As some of you may know, I applied to WCLO to host their morning show, which I believe is an extremely important part of our community communication efforts. (I am a grad student in Mass Communications at UW-Whitewater and take radio, media and communications very seriously.) As we know by now, station management chose someone else, namely Dan Conry.
I would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank the station for considering my candidacy and to wish Mr. Conry much success in his efforts to provide WCLO listening audience with a positive, engaging and informative experience. But most of all, I want to thank each and every person who wished me well on this journey, the wonderful people who started and joined “Yuri Rashkin for WCLO” group on Facebook, and every one who cheered me on. I consider this to be a very positive experience, which helped me learn more about myself and about Janesville.
While there is no doubt that WCLO offers a powerful opportunity to communicate about issues which are important to our community, the conversation is more important than the medium. I look forward to continuing these important conversations using the avenues I am fortunate to have available.
The main thing remains, which is that we live in a great community, full of passionate people, who work hard to help those around them and I’m honored to be able to continue this journey with you.
Sincerely,
Yuri Rashkin
